Colors of Love Post #5: China Glaze Lubu Heels

For the peachies wanting those red-bottomed Louboutins but don’t have the $$$ to get them, this polish might be right up your alley;-)  Lubu Heels is a black jelly base with red glitter suspended throughout…very pretty color.  The formula was amazing considering the jelly base and it stayed on for 5 days with no chips just a bit of wear at the tips.  I applied three coats for opacity to my satisfaction but you could honestly get away with two coats.   I took these pictures outside so the sun could capture the flecks of red and the black jelly base to perfection.  Indoor lighting had Lubu Heels looking burgundish….it could be a dupe for Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Black Russian but the red glitter is more apparent in Lubu Heels. This color is not as cliché as red for the love holiday but definitely a grown-up, understated look.  Lusting for Lubu Heels?  It is available at Sally’s Beauty Supply for $7.  Until next time...

Colors of Love Post #4: OPI What's With the Cattitude (with a bit of nail art)

…Look at the sky, it’s the color of love…Happy Valentine’s day peachies!  My V-day nails are inspired by Sade’s lyrics from one of my fav songs from her, Kiss of Life.  What’s With the Cattitude (WWTC) is from the 2010 Shrek Forever After Collection.  WWTC is a perfect, super pigmented sky blue crème.  The formula is lovely.  I only had to apply two coats.  Now I wanted to try something different so I decided to do some type of marble technique since I wanted to mimic the “sky” look on one of my index fingers.  Well I tried water marbling, in the words of the great and never late Whitney Houston “Hell to the naw!” It just went all wrong, I will try it again later LOL.  Because I didn’t want to abandon the marble look, I settled for the toothpick marbling…more like orangestick marbling since I had ran out of toothpicks *smh*.  It turned out pretty cool, I think I used to much white (OPI Alpine Snow) and not enough grey (Rescue Beauty Lounge Concrete Jungle)…but it still turned out pretty.  Anywho, I’m satisfied.  Clawing for What’s With the Cattitude?  It should be available at Ulta store nationwide and it retails for $8.50.

Colors of Love Post #3: butter London Blowing Raspberries

Chello peachies!  Are you ready for Valentine's Day?  If you are looking for that special red nail polish to wear for tomorrow's love day, I may have the perfect shade for you;-) Blowing Raspberries (BR) is a perfect raspberry-colored crème, the perfect mix of red and pink.  butter London is a 3-free brand (free of toluene, formaldehyde and DBP). The formula was perfecto! It applied so smoothly!  For complete opacity BR is a two-coater folks almost a one-coater.  These pictures were taken with indoor lighting which captured the color perfectly.  The color is not the most unique but I think this is the perfect red for peachies who are afraid of the red nail polish…it eases you right into it because this shade of red is a soft one.  Wanna try Blowing Raspberries? It is available at Ulta or on butter London’s website (www.butterlondon.com) for $14.  Until next time…

Colors of Love Post #2: Zoya Blyss

Blyss is a vibrant, magenty-fuchsia with blurple duochrome sheen.  Zoya is a 4-free brand (free of toluene, formaldehyde, DBP and camphor) and has an award-winning vegan friendly formula.  The formula was okay not overly thick or thin.  I applied 3 coats for complete opacity.  The picture was taken in the natural light show more of the fuchsia but indoors it shows up more magenta than fuchsia.   There are definitely blue undertones in Blyss.  I have a similar color, China Glaze Caribbean Temptation, a bright fuchsia duochrome but Zoya Blyss is not as pigmented in color and it’s more on the magenta side than fuchsia.  Although not the most unique color, Blyss is a nice color.  Want Blyss? Get it at Zoya’s website (www.zoya.com ) for $8.   Until next time…

February Post Series…Colors of Love Post #1: butter London Portobello Pink

Hey peachies! How has 2012 been treating you so far?  Did y’all miss me?  I missed y’all. Good news peachies!  I have been featured as a guest blogger on one of my favorite healthy living blogs, Lyke Lamb's Wool ( www.lykelambswool.com).  Check me out and check out her blog, it's FABULOUS!  So in light of Valentine’s Day coming up, I have decided to do a new post series for this month…The Colors of Love.  Of course there will be pinks and reds but I will also be incorporated unexpected colors in the mix.  Anywho, the first review post is butter London’s Portobello Pink which is bright almost neon coral-ish pink.  butter London is a 3-free brand (free of toluene, formaldehyde and DBP).  At the beginning of my better health living journey, I looked for more 3-free nail polish brands with an exciting range of color and I discovered this brand.  They had beautiful colors ranging from beautiful forest green and vibrant colors like turquoise. So I when I tried it the formula was great and the formula on Portobello Pink is no exception. I only applied 2 coats for complete opacity and y’all know I typically like to apply three coats.  The pictures show the orangey undertones and don’t show how beautiful and multi-faceted the color is.  I love that Portobello Pink has a coral ting to it and I also love how bright it is.  Pining for Portobello Pink?  Unfortunately *hangs head*, it is no longer available but you can check out other beautiful colors from the brand at Ulta, Nordstrom and www.butterlondon.com.  Until next time…

Rescue Beauty Lounge Anne

Hello peachies! Is everyone ready for the holidays? Anne is an olive green with fine fuchsia and gold shimmer throughout the polish.  Rescue Beauty Lounge is a 4-free brand (free of toluene, formaldehyde, DBP and formaldehyde resin.)  Anne is one of four colors in the Fall 2010 Housewives of Tudor Dynasty collection.  The formula was the Rescue Beauty excellent standard.  I only applied two coats for complete opacity.  This color is so luxurious and velvety.  Anne looks dark olive green indoors but sparkle some sunlight on Anne and you will see those awesome shimmers.  This polish definitely has depth with the gold and fuchsia shimmer really showing through depending on how the light reflects which makes this polish a stand-out. A lot of people have asked me what base and top coat polish I use.  Well, I started using Poshe Nail Strengthening Treatment Base Coat a couple of months ago and have been satisfied thus far.  For the top coat, I have went back the Seche Vite.  I just haven't came across anything else like it.  It makes your nails shiny and hard as ever.  Anyway, want Anne?  It is at www.rescuebeauty.com now as a part of the Bring It Back 2 polish series so you might want to hurry up and get it. It is 18 bucks.  Until next time...

Neutral in November Post #8: China Glaze Concrete Catwalk (Fall 2011 Metro Collection)

Hello peachies!  Concrete catwalk is a dark grey crème.  The Metro collection has a nice range of colors, 10 colors to be exact, including most of the seasons top trend colors ranging from rust to purple hues.   This collection is one of the most complete from China Glaze.  I wanted to get every single, last one of them…no lie.  China Glaze is a three-free brand (free of toluene, DBP, and formaldehyde.)  The formula was great. I applied three coats but of course you could get away with two.  This polish is just what I was looking for, not all the way black but still maintain the edginess with the being the color of slightly sun-faded asphalt.  Another color I hated to take off.  Dark grey done beautifully!  Clawing for Concrete Catwalk?  It retails at Ulta or www.ulta.com for $7. This is my last installment of the Neutral Nails in November post series.  I hope you have enjoyed because I sure did. Hopefully, this series showed that not all neutrals are safe and boring.  Until next time...
